HEB Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors work Fast Food to raise money for area Non-profits

Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Texas: For Immediate Release, May 9, 2008

The HEB Chamber of Commerce Community Awareness Day event will be held Saturday, May 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sonic Drive-In, 2000 Central Drive, Bedford. The Chamber is excited to raise funds by car hopping at America's Favorite Drive–in, Sonic, for member charitable organizations Need/Twice Blessed and Mission Central. The HEB community is invited to come by get a bite to eat, leave a donation and watch Board Members deliver food to Sonic customers!

This event is just one of many annual projects the HEB Community Alliances Committee promotes. The mission of the Community Alliances Committee is to be involved with organizations in the area, to increase awareness of the Chamber and take an active role in community improvement. Recent projects this year include a food drive for the Community Enrichment Center and a blood drive with Carter BloodCare during the annual Chamber Business2Business EXPO.

NEED's community purpose is to lend a hand to those in Northeast Tarrant County by providing food, clothing and financial assistance to needy, low-income and crisis-struck families. This is done on an emergency basis until long-term assistance can begin. They also operate the Twice Blessed Resale shop which provides clothing to those in need.

Mission Central seeks to empower people in need by providing support through emergency and long-term assistance programs. Mission Central provides free assistance programs including: food, clothing, legal assistance, after-school library and tutorial center, financial assistance and other organization referrals.
